WTTC and WTCF announce partnership to promote critical role of international organisations in tourism development

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF), signed an MoU during the WTTC Asia Leaders’ Forum in Shanghai, China to highlight the critical role of international tourism organisations in the promotion and development of tourism around the world.  

The strategic partnership will see collaboration not just between WTTC & WTCF, but also their Members - tourism cities and private sector Travel & Tourism businesses and organisations with the overall aim of increasing tourism investment, developing tourism products, encouraging countries and tourism cities to further open tourism markets, and improving the accessibility of tourism services worldwide.  

Collaboration will take the form of joint research projects which leverage the organisations’ respective areas of expertise to produce forward-looking reports, mutual support for events and conferences, and the creation of information sharing channels.  

WTTC represents the global Travel & Tourism private sector. Members include 200 CEOs, Chairs and Presidents of the world’s leading Travel & Tourism companies from all geographies covering all industries. WTTC is committed to raising the awareness of governments and the public of the economic and social significance of the Travel & Tourism sector.   

WTCF, headquartered in Beijing, is the world’s first international tourism organisation focusing on tourism cities. It now has 218 members across 73 countries. It is guided by the core vision of ‘Better City Life through Tourism’ and is committed to promoting communication and cooperation between cities – playing a vital role in the innovative development of the world’s tourism cities.

Li Baochun, Executive Deputy Secretary General, WTCF, reiterated the importance of WTCF’s focus on tourism cities and his willingness to further strengthen cooperation with the global Travel & Tourism industrial chain by joining hands with WTTC in light of the MoU that has been signed to promote the development of the world tourism.
