The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) today extends its congratulations to Hilton on the company’s 100th birthday, marking a century since Founder Conrad Hilton acquired The Mobley Hotel in Texas – the first property in a collection that now spans 5,600 hotels and 17 brands across 113 countries and territories.
Always pioneering, Conrad Hilton and his team were the first hotel group to popularise room service, install televisions in guestrooms, introduce a multi-hotel reservation system, implement a 100% satisfaction guarantee, and more recently the first to open an underwater suite. All of this has left an indelible mark on the Travel & Tourism sector, and for this, WTTC commends the Hilton family for their continued innovation and hard work in developing both the guest experience and the wider industry.
Gloria Guevara, President & CEO, WTTC commented, “100 years in business is a wonderful achievement; but 100 years at the forefront of business is an even greater accomplishment, and for this WTTC warmly recognises the contributions that Hilton have made over the last century and will continue to make.
“Hilton has been a Member of the World Travel & Tourism Council for over 20 years and I would like to recognise the current leadership under Chris Nassetta and thank him for his commitment to the global Travel & Tourism sector, through his Chairmanship of WTTC.”
